One of my favorite foods hands down is pizza so I thought I would do a little research about its origin. 997 AD is when the word pizza was first documented in Gaeta, Italy which is south of Rome on the coast. This “pizza” was basically a focaccia that had vegetables and other toppings. It wasn’t until the late 1800’s that tomato was added that is more like our pizza today.
I will eat just about any pizza (except for Papa John’s – sorry Papa!). On my trip to Italy I did find some delicious pizza in Florence along the river in a small café called Panineria.
If you are a fan of deep dish, then you must visit Leonard’s at Millhopper in Gainesville, Florida. I have been a fan from the day I stepped in and bought a slice when I started college at the University of Florida (Yes GO GATORS!!!) It is a must every time I go to see my family.
Recently on a visit to Sedona, we ran across a small café called Sedona Pizza and Pasta Company. If you are a fan of oven fired pizza, this is a great place to grab a quick bite. The wings were also pretty tasty!
If you are a Phoenix local, one of my favorite places to buy a slice is Grand Avenue Pizza at 1031 Grand Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. It is a great place to stop in on your way home when you don’t want to cook and don’t need to eat a whole pizza!! Good prices as well!
About Me
As we go through everyday life, I have found that there are moments that pull my attention to them if I am willing to let them. To stop and observe that special something that I want to share with someone else.
Photographs have given me that opportunity. To capture that moment...with the ones we care about, God's amazing creation, and man's creativity. I decided it was time to share these moments with you dear friend!
