With an announcement of travel plans to Italy, the questions are Rome? Venice? Tuscany? As a novice international traveler, those were similar questions asked in the past. Answering with La Spezia and Cinque Terre brought puzzled looks as if Italian were being spoken! (Which I guess it was!) Things I Didn’t Know About Pizza!
One of my favorite foods hands down is pizza so I thought I would do a little research about its origin. 997 AD is when the word pizza was first documented in Gaeta, Italy which is south of Rome on the coast. This “pizza” was basically a focaccia that had vegetables and other toppings. It wasn’t until the late 1800’s that tomato was added that is more like our pizza today.
